B-1 TWIC
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) visa
The B-1 TWIC is suitable for foreign nationals who perform maritime services in the United States and require access to secure areas of facilities and vessels. In order to apply for a TWIC in the US you need to have a specifically annotated B-1 visa. Once granted, the foreign national may apply for a TWIC, issued in the form of a biometric identification card.
In the maritime industry, foreign nationals traveling on a B-1 visa often require access to U.S ports and ships to carry out the official duties of their positions. These positions may include for example port superintendents, compliance security officers, and crew managers.
Common duties are:
- Conducting routine maintenance
- Inspecting ships
- Overseeing cargo movements
- Providing crew and personnel training
- Performing audits
Each B-1 visa application is different. VisaVersa has assisted with hundreds of B-1 visa applications at many different US consulates all over the world. Some consulates have (much) longer waiting times than others. VisaVersa is familiar with these procedures and regulations.
