Entrepreneurs and investors wanting to establish a company in the Netherlands can take advantage of specific application procedures.

Entrepreneurs coming to the Netherlands to start their business must meet a number of requirements. The entrepreneur must show that s/he is qualified to run the business and that the business will generate sufficient income. The business plan accompanying the application must show how the entrepreneur expects to generate this income for at least the coming year.

A key requirement for entrepreneurs is that they must show how their business will add value to the Dutch economy. This is established by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. A classification system is used that looks at a number of different factors, such as the education and experience of the entrepreneur, the business plan and a number of other elements.

Dutch-American Friendship Treaty

The Dutch American Friendship Treaty offers a simplified procedure for American entrepreneurs that want to set up a business in the Netherlands. In this procedure, the review of the new business by the Ministery of Economic Affairs is not required.
